Good stories grow through good company
Friends of Richmond Historic Haunts
Richmond Historic Haunts has been fortunate to work alongside, learn from, and get to know people who care deeply about history, storytelling, community, and memorable experiences.
The organizations and businesses gathered here are not all connected in the same way. Some have hosted our programs. Some have collaborated with us. Some are fellow storytellers whose work we respect. Each contributes something distinctive to the communities they serve, and we are pleased to help more people discover them.
FELLOW STORYTELLERS
American Ghost Adventures
American Ghost Adventures is a locally owned Central Florida company offering ghost tours and hands-on paranormal investigations in Orlando and several surrounding communities. Its experienced investigators combine local history, reportedly haunted locations, and real investigation equipment without relying on costumed actors or staged scares.
HOSPITALITY AND EVENT PARTNER
Patrick Henry’s Pub & Grille
Set in a historic Church Hill building near St. John’s Church, Patrick Henry’s Pub & Grille combines a neighborhood restaurant, English-style pub, and garden patio. The pub has also welcomed guests for Haunts of Richmond’s haunted dinner events, pairing a meal with stories drawn from the surrounding neighborhood.
HISTORIC SITE AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE
Hanover Tavern
Hanover Tavern brings nearly three centuries of history into an active community setting. Visitors can explore exhibits, enjoy the restaurant and pub, attend professional theater and educational programs, or gather for weddings and special events. The Hanover Tavern Foundation preserves the property as a historic, educational, and cultural resource.
RESEARCH AND PARANORMAL COMMUNITY
CPRI
The Center for Paranormal Research and Investigation has pursued the scientific study of reported paranormal phenomena since 2000. CPRI conducts research, shares educational material, and helps people examine unusual experiences with an emphasis on evidence, careful observation, and possible natural explanations.
ARTS, HISTORY, AND COMMUNITY
Virago Alley
Virago Alley is a Richmond nonprofit creating an accessible and inclusive platform for historical martial arts, artisan trades, education, and community building. Its programs include the Richmond Ren Faire and Warriors in Bloom, where demonstrations, performances, artists, and hands-on traditions bring history into the present.
MUSEUM AND HISTORIC SITE
Poe Museum
Richmond’s Poe Museum preserves and interprets the life, work, and legacy of Edgar Allan Poe. Its collections, exhibits, educational programs, events, and Enchanted Garden offer visitors a deeper look at the writer whose formative years and most important personal relationships were closely tied to Richmond.
LOCAL BUSINESS
Richbrau Brewing Company
Richbrau Brewing draws inspiration from its home in historic Shockoe Bottom. The brewery connects adventurous craft beer with Richmond’s past, giving many of its recipes names rooted in local history and lore. Its taproom offers a relaxed place to experience that meeting of old Richmond and something newly made.
Know someone we should know?
The Friends page is intentionally curated rather than comprehensive. If you represent a Richmond-area historic site, cultural organization, local business, research group, or experience provider whose work connects naturally with ours, we would be glad to hear from you.
